Universities and society – University of Turku 100 years

The grid-like design represents the interaction between universities and the society. At the top of the design, there is the year of issuance ‘2020’, at the right side the mintmark and underneath the mintmark is the indication of the issuing country ‘FI’. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.

Additional information

The university of the Finnish city of Turku, founded in 1820, is the second largest in the country. The coin depicts the concept of "Neural Network" through grid patterns on an abstract level. This is intended to symbolize the interaction between the universities and society.
